It's the only thing that saves me from repainting everything I do. If I'm not absolutely convinced before I start, I usually change my mind half way through. I'm picking up some black Plastidip and glossifier today and calling body shops to see who can do a custom order of brake caliper paint. Keep you posted |
Opinions on brake caliper and wheel color

I've finally got everything I need to make this plan come through. I've decided to kickstart the process by redoing the center console and various trim pieces with vinyl wrap.
This isn't really on topic with the thread title of brake calipers, but I wanted everyone's honest opinion on what they think, mainly about the acid green accent. I'm considering adding this accent in various places; like door handles, horizontal trim that divides the upper and lower dash, brake calipers, trim of pedals, etc. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/17/4a6ymesy.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/17/ny7ume4y.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/17/a3a4yse9.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/17/y5y8ena7.jpg |
It's not my choice of color, but, I still like it, assuming you are going with those colors on your calipers and other accents. I would not over do it though. And since it is vinyl, if you get tired of it, you can always go back.

I honestly think it's too much.
Maybe something more subtle like a pinstripe down the ebrake handle or just the stitching on the shift boot and on a custom leather wrap steering wheel. It's funny because I've been experimenting with the green on interior bits for the last week also...decided to go with white accents, though. Get some neon green masking tape and experiment ;) That's what I do. |
what is that other vinyl's color called, I like it.
|
Yes I believe I vomited a little bit when I saw that center console with green :barf:
You should finally do your wheels this weekend so I can see how it looks, and decide if I want to taint my dr.seuss inspired porsche rims with plastidip as well |
One coat... Good enough

Niceeeeee work, good taste and all!
Now you just need to order one set of those R14 in black and you are rolling with class again |
No, it looks great! Did you use the glossifier or something else? I Plasti-Dipped my lugs too.

Thanks for the compliments everyone!
I used the plasti dip glossifier. Btw, did your wheels still feel tacky even after the completely dried? Lol I was finally able to take a picture with natural sunlight on the wheels :) http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/23/utujuby8.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/12/23/y4erevur.jpg |

The black one is black brushed metal vinyl. I bought it from eBay ; it's Avery supreme. I have to say, it forms just like 3m 1080 and is really good quality |
Tacky? No, they feel more like they are rubber, which makes perfect sense. The only thing I don't like is that they are harder to clean now, not just a simple wipe down.
