Sweet! Did you stitch that leather yourself?

Arp0498 07-26-2013 09:33 AM

No mate, I got them from eBay

edc 07-26-2013 12:13 PM

You can get your GPS aerial in the factory location by pulling out the old one and threading the new one back through. I have the same stereo and have the connector in the arm rest.

Do you have the ebay link please?

ArenaRed986 07-27-2013 10:07 AM

Yes please share the link looks great!!

Arp0498 07-27-2013 12:47 PM

The eBay seller is topgaiters . He sells all the leather for porsche boxsters. Hope this helps

BruceH 07-27-2013 04:35 PM

Very nice. Here is a link to his store:

Kenny Boxster 07-27-2013 07:23 PM

Looks great! I would buy however I do not know how some black pieces will look with a savannah beige interior, may contrast too much.

Ckrikos 07-28-2013 06:15 AM

Great upgrades, wonder if he sells them in graphite grey.

SpyderRS 07-28-2013 07:35 AM

Sorry, but thatīs not the kind of my taste! Work is not really good, the stitched do not extend clean straight, the grained leather is absolutely not compatible with the oem smooth nappa leather and stitching from your hood is a no go!

so it should look:http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1375025660.jpg

teleski 07-28-2013 08:14 PM

To each his own. He probably thinks your carbon fiber accents look cheap and stupid....

More 07-28-2013 09:39 PM

I'd really like something for my steering wheel. If anyone stumbles across something please post the link on here.

Thanks.

exactly! to each his own.

But just because i donīt like it, must I lie and say how great it looks?

I just have other claims in terms of quality.

EssexPorsche 07-28-2013 11:24 PM

My mum always said to me
" if you can't find anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"

She taught me that even if i didn't like someone i should still try to find a positive, like they had nice shoes or nice hair.

He was not asking for you to lie, in fact he wasn't asking for your opinion - it was a 'show and tell' post not a 'crush my spirit' thread.

There could have been 50 people look at this who had an opinion either way but chose to say nothing. And those that liked it, posted positive feedback.

Just be a little more considerate?:D

BruceH 07-28-2013 11:31 PM

Couldn't agree more Essex. Everyone has their own taste. I have always believed that the only opinion that matters is my own when it comes to upgrades, colors etc. I certainly do not want to rain on someone's parade when my taste doesn't align with their taste. That's just common courtesy, which is something that is lacking in society all too often:cheers:

SpyderRS 07-29-2013 12:25 AM

Hey guys, if he likes it and he is satisfied with it, it makes me happy.

So I can still express my opinion, as I have to live with it, if others do not like, what I have on my car converted.

Unfortunately you can not to please everyone and I personally prefer it, someone tells me the truth as he's lying in my face.;)

markwoodlief 07-29-2013 06:16 AM

I like it. But, more importantly is that I like that there are options for folks that don't have the OEM leather. To the OP.. was it tough to I nstall? I went on his site and read that its just the leather.

Arp0498 07-31-2013 01:34 AM

It took me about 1hour to fit it. You have a bit of trimming to do but other than that it's fairly easy

2003S 07-31-2013 02:43 AM

SpiderRS,

What do the buttons on your steering wheel do?

Looks like you've got a Manual, so it's not a "flappy paddle" replacement, and I think I spy the stock head unit, so presumably not volume controls...

I really like the OP's white stitched leather look. Reasonably priced too. I'd say these are a winner!

I like the direction of the stitching on this 996? dash. Was this factory 996 option?

The stitching on the armrest in the ebay link though is plenty good in my humble opinion for the price. I think I will get one.

This is a oem 986 hood/dash, new covered with leather and stitching similar as from 996 dash.

This one we make for a customer...

Manner of fact, you would drooled if you would see what they do here in Shanghai RE car interiors and leathers mate. They now scan the dash and other car features using 3D scanners, cut the leather using lasers and stich those using CNC stitching centers (i.e. robots man). It's in a windowed shop so you can see it all happening while waiting for your car. They practically have most molds and years for any car makes really (911, Boxsters, Cayenne etc....). Quality is same as the manufacturer and every single details looks sharp and clean. They also included personalized embroidery services. Any graphics/pattern you want really!

Just sayin'..... you may want to start outsourcing to China soon brotha ;) My Chinese friends are clearly catching up with the Germans

Hey buddy, how are you!?
I know from them, they do a really good job, as i know too, the leather is from malaysia, work is done in china. They also make steering wheels for 997, 987... for very low prices... but believe me, in direct comparison you'll see that our quality is still much better ... in fact everything handmade.

I know how to get you mad so I was playing with my luck telling you about modern car stitching and all LOLLL

Definitely nothing beats excellent German craftsmanship like yours brotha, no worries there for sure

LoL... I donīt have any problems with it, as i said, they do a really good job. However... quality makes the difference.;)

You do any new mods on your Boxster?

Hi Izman,

the basic sw is from raid/atiwe, diameter 320mm with flat bottom. We have customized this sw with real carbon fiber, matte finish, covered with smooth nappa leather and silver stitching.

We do a similar conversion for an italian customer..:

For those interested, I contacted the seller about getting door armrests in matching leather. Well, he wrote back and told me he went out and bought a 986 door panel to measure, so now he has the matching door armrest. Yes, I know there is an easy DIY, but I was/am considering the center console arm rest and if I get that, I would want matching leather on the door arm rests. Here is the link to his store, and no, I am not in any way affiliated. I do like the looks of the products for the price. I just wrote him concerning the stitching on the door arm rests, I would prefer no stitching as it might get annoying on the elbows, or maybe I am just over thinking it.

Those are the Jump Buttons for the Mach 1!

Slate 01 09-29-2013 06:18 PM

Can anyone advise me on how to remove the dash cover over the speedo cluster? I ordered the topgaiter cover, is there an easy way to remove this without tearing apart the whole dash board?
Thanks.

PS ordered the armrests and center console armrest as well. Black leather with grey stitching to match the rest of the interior. Can hardly wait to install.

Also, anyone have advice on spray adhesive for this? I thought the 3M 90 would be the best choice, let me know,

Thanks

BruceH 09-29-2013 08:08 PM

I did mine today and used the 3M General Purpose 45 and seemed to work well. Happy with the results!
