I agree with you for the most part. But I do like some racing stripes :-) I am glad the 986 I bought was not modded at all. One of the biggest turnoffs when looking to buy a car is to see that the original wheels are gone. If you mod, keep the original parts!
I too am a fan of the simple yet stunning mods to a car.

2000 S with stock Porsche Classic 18's very lightly modified with the following:
-clear/red tail lights / hella clear marker lights / GT3Tek diffuser
and that's it...
