got a new wing for my boxster!

golonaus 07-12-2012 02:57 PM

The "wing" is to produce down force
Yours will lift the car up
Wrong angle man!!!!!!!!

On other side
Why would you put this thing on your "beauty full" porsche????
It looks civicish

Be carefull on lift off. Lol

particlewave 07-12-2012 03:16 PM

Ewwwww!!!

Seriously; take it off, man!

Crono0001 07-12-2012 03:22 PM

.. to each their own..

... but I cringed..

Eric G 07-12-2012 04:42 PM

Not really a good match and having it backwards just adds to the awkward looking aspect of it. If you are happy great, not my cup of tea.

gomarlins3 07-12-2012 05:52 PM

That's big.

Johnny Danger 07-12-2012 06:47 PM

Sorry Shawn, but not only is it hideous - it's backwards . Also, what a rough looking neighborhood .

grubinski 07-12-2012 07:34 PM

I just hope it's Photoshopped.

LACOUNTRYHICK 07-13-2012 04:32 AM

I'll stick with mine

lifeisgood 07-13-2012 11:13 AM

Put the "zoom zoom" sticker on.

particlewave 07-13-2012 11:48 AM

Ha! Yeah, its backwards...didn't even notice that at first. :(

brian325is 07-13-2012 12:22 PM

Really Shawn? You are making us Canadians look bad. LOL

I've never been a fan of Boxster wings but I like the integrated spoiler look of Louisianahick's car.

Oklahoma kind of speaks for itself. :D

I think it really accentuates the lines of the car. Plus it really needs that downforce since its a "turbo"

shawnliew88 07-13-2012 10:36 PM

I got it adjusted and it's tilting more forward now, u guys mean backward as in the direction of the spoiler?

particlewave 07-13-2012 10:49 PM

Yep. The front appears to be facing the rear of the car. Don't take too much offense. We can be pretty harsh at times. My first posts here were about my drop in 8" kicker sub and box. I got a lot of flak for it, but its still in the car and I still love it. :)

It's all about what you like...but yeah, its backwards(kinda hard to see in the pics, though). The curved edge should face forward and the thin bit should be at the rear like an airfoil of an airplanes wing. ;)
The angle is due to the struts which look like they were designed for a more horizontal deck and not the steeper slope of the Boxsters lid. I don't know if you can adjust them...may have to modify them or find some that will work with the spoiler and deck.

Edit: disregard...I see that you say that you got it adjusted.

shawnliew88 07-14-2012 08:41 AM

I think this spoiler is designed this way because I took a look and if I turn it around the angle on the surface it's gonna look abit weird..because when I look up for pics with this spoiler this Is how they fit it..probably gonna take some pics to post it again..by the way! Just tinted my tail lights !

Are you guys kidding? You can't tell that spoiler is a Chevy truck bug deflector?

ekam 07-15-2012 06:45 AM

Looks perfect, except it's missing a decal.

Shawnliew88: Tower, this is Ghost Rider requesting a flyby.

986_c6 08-11-2012 12:24 AM

If you can, remove it and do some more research about spoilers for the Boxster.

Sorry, but it really is that bad.

Mark_T 08-16-2012 06:07 PM

Geez that looks tacky! If you want a ricer then buy a ricer, but don't desecrate a fine German automobile like that.

Do you seriously think that looks good? Do you not realize that people are pointing at it and laughing?

WhipE350 08-17-2012 07:58 AM

Shawn - I think that wing was for a flat trunk Civic. Was this the look you were looking for:

http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1345218994.jpg

Or more of a Danger car with this ugly buttt wing...sorry Johnny :)

ekam 08-17-2012 08:41 AM

I think that wing only works if you have NAWWWS.

Topless 08-17-2012 11:56 AM

Ouch!

Ok maybe a set of custom Stretch-and-Poke 22" rims from Toronto with 205 width tires will complete the "look".

shadowprincess25 08-20-2012 07:20 AM

Awww poor guy. I like the wing, don't let the boys push you around too much. What ever you like and as long as it isn't a piece of gutter or cherrybomb we can still be friends :)

PS it does look backwards... Might want to get a style meant for the car ;)

Meir 09-14-2012 08:20 AM

post #27 just killed me. i will be laughing all weekend.

by the way any update on the project?
did you got a chance to flip the wing ti its right position?
please post some new pics.

shawnliew88 09-15-2012 08:58 PM

I did adjust it but can't be bothered posting the pics anymore.

I'm with the consensus, while I would never tell you what you could/should do with your car. If it were mine I would be left with a bad taste in my mouth. There are many much more tasteful examples out there.

No it's the bug deflector off the truck behind it

Okaaaaaaaayyyyyyy! Noose fitting then is totally appropriate for the designer of this wing.

The best quote from this whole thing is "if i turn this around the angle on the surface is gonna look abit weird" Nah!

I can hardly wait to see the pics of the tinted windows

mikesz 10-24-2014 05:56 AM

@Lacountryhick, did you disable the factory spoiler from lifting at speed?

jbs986 10-24-2014 01:26 PM

Sorry, but that thing looks hideous!!!!!!!!!!!

Slate 01 10-25-2014 07:16 AM

I forgot about this thread, thanks for reviving it, but next time put a warning on it so I don't lose my breakfast.

Did Shawn hang himself?

got a new wing for my boxster!

Extreme fugliness!! :barf: On a positive note, congrats on taking 1st place in the J.C. Whitney Tacky Aftermarket Division.

Nine8Six 10-26-2014 08:22 AM

This can't be right, it's a hoax 100% convinced

Op, the first public safety patrol would have pulled you over and force you to remove it within 48hrs. Doesn't look safe at all (for yourself and the others both mate)

Got to be Photoshop. Entertaining regardless lol
