What I would like to do is get some new black rims, ( maybe 19 x 10 in back ) that should work right? What about a performance chip to get some quick gains in HP? and maybe a new exhaust.

if you find a good chip / tuning vendor let me know
last year I looked at fabspeed and they sell you a kit, (exhaust, headers etc with chip) for about $900 and claim it will give you about extra 25hp+
then I looked at softtronic and they sell the chip alone option for about $800 (I think) and claim it will add on around 15hp +
All and all I don't think you can get too much noticeable hp increase through ECU reprogramming on these engines so I never got mine chipped and instead saved the pennies incase of IMS repairs

cbbepop, where did you see this? I'm pretty sure that Fabspeed charges that $900 just for the tune alone, and several thousand more for the full kit that has the exhaust, headers, filter, tune, etc.

People have done it, though I think it's almost always been at least a 2 person job.
Also, if you're just talking the muffler section of the exhaust, that shouldn't be too difficult, but if you're talking a full exhaust from the headers all the way back, people have broken the bolts holding the headers to the engine, so you'd want to be careful there. Even after torching them to make it easier people have still sheared these bolts, and if it breaks off inside you'll be looking at a lot more work.
Don't let that stop you, though. The way I see it, it may be worthwhile to let a shop handle the header section and then you can do the rest of the exhaust from the header back yourself if you really want to. If you're just doing a cat-back or header-back exhaust mod, you and a buddy should be able to knock it out just fine.

Yes you can. Just have WD40, breaker bar, and good jack stands on a level roadway.
The only problem is the heavy Muffler. Be careful when unbolting it because it might fall on you.
