New Zein like tops plus more??!!

Let me start from the beginning. I had seen an item Xtreme Motorcars had on ebay awhile back. It was a Zein top for the 987 and asked if they had one for a 986. Jeffrey from Xtreme Motorcars told me they did not have a Zein top as Zein was out of business but was working on one of their own and that all they needed was the rear glass. He told me it would be later this summer.

I just got an email from him along with a picture of the top. It appears a little different then the Zein. It looks as tho you don't have to remove the trunk lid.

Here is the email along with the picture he sent me. He also hints at a different style top that would be easier to take on and off. He also said something about a spider style cover I believe.

Anyway, here's the email.

"Hello
we are getting closer on the 986 Hardtops
and will have the 987 top as well
let me know if you still want to be on the mailing list.

We are also working on a 1/2 top that will make it easier to change back
and forth between Cabrio and hardtop,
but will style have the Cayman style rear and side glass

and posible a Spyder rear cover as well,
Thanks,
Jeffrey

Here is the picture.

Doesn't do much for me. I always liked the original Zeintop.

i still think they are selling vapourware. that's the same image from a post on pelican parts last summer. it looks to me like a zeintop without the hatch. i think they have a top left over from their zeintop dealer days (the one from which they intend to rip a mold). the original zeintops came disassembled (without glass or hatch installed) so it is easy enough to plop it on a car and take a picture. d'moris in france sells a similar top if you are interested in that style, however.

Jeff and I have been emailing about this and his other Boxster body parts for a couple of years. I hope he can actually get these done and for sale.

I've been emailing Jeff back and forth since Dec '10... and I received the same email with pics that were pulled from other sites. Why wouldn't they post pics of their hardtop? Just makes me wonder if they're legit...
