Yoadrian,

Your car looks very nice! I wouldn't have guessed it has 140,000 miles on it. Have you had any major issues with it? Have you replaced the clutch?

Is it Carrera White?

Thanks,

ddb

Thanks!

Not sure what shade of white- I'll have to look at the window sticker tonight.

Clutch was replaced just before I bought it.

I bought it with 118K on it. Since then, I've had a couple of things happen...

- Fuel pump broke.
- ECU got water in on it due to the back window being cracked and the clear tape job wasn't done too well on it. I did my own tape job much better- saving for either a GHAA top or a new back window.
- Drive belt snapped and pulley tensioner warped.
- Two tires blew out- camber is off and I need to do an alignment asap since I just replaced all of the tires.

I have put a lot of elbow grease into cleaning her up.

The headlights were YELLOW when I got it. I used a three step wet sanding process (800, 1000 then 1400 grit), then buffed with a mild compound, polished and waxed. They look new on the outside, a little burned on the actual headlight inside the housing.

Calipers were completely black- back to red now.

Used platicX on the back window many times- it's as good as it is going to get until replaced.

Trying to bring the seats back to life by using leather conditioner every two weeks.

Clay bar and waxed last weekend. Going to do a good clay, compound, polish and wax soon with a friends orbital.

I'm reallly hoping that I don't have to throw too much more $ into it over the next year until it is paid off. These cars are way too much fun to drive!

My son will be born in late May, so this will soon become my weekend ride as long as I am not forced to sell it.

Your elbow grease has paid off! I'm sure it will look even nicer once you finish the paint work with the orbital. Post some more pics when you get finished.

Sounds like you are well on your way to getting all of the issues sorted out.

Question for you and all of the others that have responded to this thread: Did you just find a good deal on your car (or found a car in great shape) and it just happened to be white? Or did you specifically search for a white car? I specifically wanted a white one.

I was thinking about this because of the "What Color? Why?" thread started by PhilNotHill. I really don't have a good answer so I didn't respond. But, all of the vehicles that I've bought new except one have been white and a couple of the used ones as well (including my Boxster and my daily-driver). I guess I think they look crisp and are relatively easy to keep looking nice.

I found this one really cheap and it had been maintained very well. Honestly, I have always preferred black cars and have had a few of them. They are a PAIN to keep clean and looking good though. The longer I have this car, the more I like the white, especially with the blue top- don't see too many of these. I think that white looks great on Porsches in general.

I have had many white cars prior to buying my boxster a year and a half ago. I love that white is the brightest colour and shows the bodyline perfectly in the day and even at night which is why I cant do black.

I wanted a white boxtser and almost bought a different one off ebay but I lost the bid it was twice the price and had a water logged ecu so the car didnt run. I always wanted to swap in a 911 motor so I'd been looking for a donor car. I fluked out finding my car on craigslist in need of paint and a motor which is exactly what I wanted in the colour I wanted. My car runs and drives but not well. I just picked up a 3.6 so over the winter my project will be in full gear. Only issue is mine is a tip but what I paid I'll be just fine with a tip and when I buy my 987 I'll buy manual
