Two more upgrades complete!
2 Attachment(s)
I completed a couple more hacks/upgrades yesterday. Pics are attached. New aluminum pedals and the garage door opener hack. Bought the OEM button online ($20 or so) and took the insides out of one of my old garage door transmitters and hooked it all up so that both buttons engage the transmitter, the button lights up and the garage door opener is hooked up to the 12V power supply of the car.
Super fun stuff - unbelievable what this forum has inspired me to do. Next on the list are: - New 18" or 19" rims - Painted center console (DIY) - Leather covered armrests and door panel (DIY) - New floor mats (already ordered) - Leather restoration of seats (ordered from Colorplus) Thanks for all the great inspiration in here. Thanks, Lars |
Very nice!
I like the Al pedals and the its very cool to have a garage door tx installed like factory in the car. |
Both of those look great. Amazing job. Where did you order the pedals from? How long was the install? Keep the posts coming, can't wait to see your future projects.

Nice... now why did you position the button that way? can it not be flipped around?

Now that I look at the pictures, I can see what you mean. I'll take a look at it when I get home and flip it. Thanks for the tip. Lars |
lol I am not sure how it is supposed to be. but to me as it sits it looks like a garage door raising from the floor as opposed to the other way around. lol but im not sure how it is actually supposed to be.

I think the button originally was for a Targa roof on one of the older models - can't pinpoint where I read that though. |
The pedals look great.
The garage door opener switch is for Australian Boxsters. You know "down under". All you have to do is flip over the car like it is on the bottom of the world and it will look just fine. |

I have attached a photo with my new, flipped, non-Aussie style button.
Btw - how do I include pictures directly in my post? How do you guys do that? Thanks, Lars |
I really need to do some of this stuff to my car. Looks great man.

garage door opener
Hey man that garage door opener really looks good, can you tell me how you did it and where you got the parts....ie the button. Thanks for any information you can give me

Sure - it's really pretty simple. I bought the button on ****************************************************.com. Make sure you specify what finish you order the button in (blank or matte). I took my old garage door opener remote apart and soldered some 20 gauge wires onto the two "contact" button points on the remote print board. At the other end of the wires, I crimped 1/4" female quick-connectors (I bought mine at Radioshack for $2 or so). Those connectors mount directly on the Porsche button. I used the following website for wiring instructions: http://www.gagme.com/greg/Boxster/hacks/garageswitch.php Probably took me an hour or so - and it looks great and works like a charm. PM me if you want more help. |
garage door hack- different install
i just did my garage door hack using a different switch. i bought a small micro switch at Radio shack for $3.19 and used the round blank on the left side batwing opposite the lighter. i drilled a 1/2" hole in the blank, installed the switch and mounted the board from the garage door opener inside the center console . if i need to change the battery i just have to remove the upper console storage box.
nice and clean and total cost was about $5. |
That looks much better. Now even the "feeler" bumps line up.
|
Great post... I wish I was as creative as you guys! :) Well done!
