Holy Crap!
My buddy emailed this photo, taken while he was driving his new M3 on the famous Nurburgring.
What really made me jealous was not the fact that he took European delivery of his M3 and drove it all over Germany, Switzerland and Italy for a month. It was the fact that he then had his M3 shipped to his dealer in Honolulu, Hawaii where he lives and works!
Some guys have it hard in life, no?

OK, where'd he find the 3rd hand to allow taking the picture at that speed? Or was he driving with his knees?

Its funny, I had an M3, chipped and heavily breathed on, lightning fast, but when I raced a stock Boxster at Sebring I saw the light and traded "up". The M3 is in my opinion one of the finest cars made. For the money, it is unbeatable, but I still think the Boxster has the handling edge and if mid corner poise is what floats your boat, then you will be happy to forsake all those ponies under the M3 hood.
By the way, I can attest to the stability of an M3 at 170mph. No hands are needed on the wheel to take a quick photo. Not to be recommended for very long

The M3 is a fine auto. Handling wise, it is still front engine and that is what the handling from the Box. Can't beat that mid engine deal!

Wow, 170mph. He must have had the speed nanny disabled because I thought they were limited to 155mph.

ONe thing I realized
I was an avid BMW owner, I've had all the revisions of the M3 since I was 17 (e30, e36, E46, E30 is still my favorite). But I can attest that porsche technology is so far more advanced although the version I had did have it's fair share of reliability problems. A 2004 M3 is nice and will always be, but think about the old legendary 1988 944 Turbo S. Stock was 250HP, and just chipped + exhaust it bumped up to 330 Horses. I can honestly say that 1988 car felt just as stable if not more at 190MPH as an E46 M3 is at 170MPH. does it really take BMW 15 years to catch up with Porsche? Is that why porsches are twice as expensive ? I just wish my boxster was as fast as my old turbo S. =( If anyone was thinking what the hell I was doing going that fast, I didn't know myself, but I just got caught up in a little race on a 4 lane highway after losing a championship basketball game.

Why not pick up a cream puff 951 and go nuts. They are nice cars despite the negativety torwards them. I wouldn't mind having a 300hp+ 951. Perhaps I'l get one someday to add to the fun car list.
