What brand?

Nice.... Yea ok I'll agree but that's all they are ;) ADV.1 (Made in Japan). Forged aluminum, ultra-light category, brittle as glass, and just can't be used on modern public roads. When I knock on them with one finger, the vibration goes from one end to another with a 'ding' sound identical to glassware lol

$8,000 later, they are an excellent choice of wheels for the parking lot. Or- Unless you are cracking rich then rolling them at high speed on today's roads is also no problem

The set available at the time in PCD130 was original gunmetal as below. Just to kill that girl red car look I had them professionally powder coated in gloss black. Finally the wife hates them. Another very successful mod :D

I'm currently working on a Porsche 996 GT3 MK1 CUP front bumper. Hopefully it will be on the car in 2 weeks time.

Now those are some proper "Show Car" level wheels. That pcar looks really mean mate, well done

Looking forward seeing the Cup front-end in a few weeks. Can't wait actually!

That can't possibly be the original paint.

Nine8Six 05-08-2014 05:43 AM

Well spotted again, Captain.

No it is not the original paint. The car got resprayed about 4-5 years ago with the exact same paint material (oem) that Porsche uses from the factory (both paint + clear coat). Imported from France and very hard to get in small qty... forgot the name of the chemicals/Co (my indy used to work for Porsche and kept his connections there!).

Up close it is a bit sick... the car got wet sanded with #1200 up to #4000 grit after the 4 (four) clear coats then buffed/finished with a compound. Double-price but very special.

Thx for noticing it btw ;) Was hard work....

I think that I am jealous of your paintjob :)

Today during lunch I was contemplating how to get from 320 HP to >450 HP. Maybe sticking an electric motor in the front :D

Here are a couple more, these are all from the drive home when I picked it up in Austin. I would have taken more (and wish I had) but I had to get back home pronto.

Wow. Awesome headlights and wheels.
Where did you get those headlights?

Skyline drive - about 50 degrees
The shading helps cover up all the road debris stuck to my back bumper
I had done 450 miles of the Blue Ridge Parkway the day before in rain, fog, sunny, finally just rain and fog
