Shiny cars are awesome

Got my car out of hibernation and gave it a quick polish and glaze.

Gratuitous photo oportunity

I hope everyone is getting ready for summer cruising, we actually have 24 degrees C (75 F) in the UK, time for the hardtop to come off I think.

I like the look of the rear bumper with a euro plate and no bumperettes.

More pix mate!

I've always said black and red Boxsters are the only colors that can get away with having amber lights. This is a perfect example of that.

That X5 out on the street looks like it needs new tires.

Looking at your photos I realized one benefit of having the steering wheel on the right (ahem, wrong) side of the car: pumping gas. You simply step out and the gas tank is right there. I bet you could even do it hanging out the window! Nice.

Thanks for the comments. I will be honest I was thinking of selling it, but now it is clean again and I managed to get out and give it a blast it does put a smile on your face, so it stays.

More pictures on my website, see sig. I have a friend who is a professional photographer staying with us this weekend, if the weather holds I will ask him to take a few with my digital SLR. Can you believe these were taken on my phone, Sony Ericcson w890i.

The X5 is my daily driver and I have the sport model, the tyres are legal but just about ready for replacement(the pic is misleading), it handles much much better than you would think as I have the self adjusting air suspension and it surprises people going around highway bends at 90 (sorry 70 officer)

I am tempted to replace the orange lights this year now that it is staying, the other thing will be a sports exhaust of some type. The guys that maintain the car (Ninemeister) have offered me a new conversion they have to 3.75L (around 315-330hp) using all porche parts and bore liners but at the moment the price is a little high. Then again for me to upgrade as I was thinking, I need to spend a lot more than the price of this engine work. I dont know how it is in the US but the credit problems have massively impacted used car sales (especially luxury cars) so the market has fallen out. My X5 is borderline unsellable with the lack of freely available credit and the hippies saying that I am killing the planet It is a diesel and does 30mpg for goodness sake.

Anyhow, thanks again for the comments. I will hopefully put some more pics up soon and will get active on the forum again now that it is out of hibernation. I have a track event on 2nd June and will get some in car video footage and some telemetry from my new data logger. I love my gadgets!

Have a good weekend!
