New-to-me Boxster S

Hi all,

New to the forum and new to Boxsters. My last Porsche was an '86 911 Carrera which I owned from 2000 through about a month ago. I put about 45,000 miles on it in that time, of which over 6,000 were on various tracks (Mid Ohio, VIR, and all three circuits at Summit Point).

My "new" Porsche is a 2000 Boxster S. It has 92,000 miles total, but only 25,000 on a new engine. PPI found only one problem -- rear wheel bearings are worn, which I understand is common on Boxsters.

I'm still getting used to the smoothness and refinement of this new one. For now it is a street only car, but I may do AutoX or some DEs with it at some point.

Here's a pic: 2000 Boxster S

A question. What's the official name of my car's color? Is it arena or orient red?

I realize this isn't meant to be a discussion area, so I'm going to post a question on tires and shocks/struts in the Perf/Tech forum... any advice is appreciated.

Hey there, welcome aboard!

Can you post/upload the picture here? The link you have, requires an account/registration on that website.

Sorry. Still getting used to this forum's software. Here's my first attempt to upload some pics into this forum.

A few views plus me with a smile on my face...

Is there a way to get pictures to appear in-line in a posting, instead of as links?

Lucky,

If you post one picture, it will show up in the thread. If you post more than one, it will show up as a link. One way around this is to post your pictures on www.photobucket.com and copy / paste the [IMG] tag to show multiple pictures...

Hope this helps ( and great looking car ! )

Nick

Welcome to the forum. You'll like it here.

Your car is Arena Red. Orient Red is more...rasberry?

So true. I test drove some cars at HBL, but their asking prices are insanely high -- so I just enjoyed the free bottled water, drove some nice cars, listened to the sales manager's BS, and then shopped elsewhere.

I bought this car through a VW dealer in Dulles (Lindsay VW) that took it in trade. I think I got a good deal... paid $16,900 + TTT (total was about $17,600 on the road). Car has 92K miles total, but only 23K on a factory motor. HBL confirmed that the motor and expansion tank were replaced at 69K. The car does need new rear wheel bearings (starting to get noisy) and new tires. Everything else about the car is near perfect both cosmetically and functionally.

Is that a decent price?
