I've had a set of inexpensive pedals for a couple of months and didn't have much desire to install them. Well, finally this weekend I gave it a go. I also sanded and painted the fuse cover panel. It looked like the original owner wore golf spikes and scraped the panel when entering and exiting the car.

I had read about how difficult it would be to drill through the brake pedal, so I was prepared. My cordless drill isn't that powerful, so I didn't even try to use it. I just broke out my seldom used old electric drill. On top of that, I bought a new set of drill bits. I then took advice I read here or on another site and started with a very small pilot hole, and enlarged the hole with different drill bits until reaching the desired diameter. Lastly, I removed the plastic owner's manual holder under the steering wheel in order to get a better angle with my drill. After taking these steps, it was rather easy to drill the holes. I made marks on my rubber brake and clutch covers and drilled through rubber before going through the substrate. I believe the rubber acted as a guide and prevented the drill bit from sliding around on the metal or plastic.

I hope these tips will be helpful to the next guy.

Edit - I forgot to say that I didn't use the rubber brake and clutch covers in the final install. I used them as guides and removed them before attaching the metal covers.

Looks great! Can I ask, did the aluminium pedals raise the pedal height? I am ~ 5'10" and was wondering if I did this would it feel to high? Thanks

Thanks. I drove the car for the first time since installing the pedals 3 days ago. I'm about 6 hours away from home and didn't notice anything odd about the pedal height on the drive. I removed the brake and clutch stock rubber covers which probably offset any net gain in pedal height.

On longer distances I like to drive with my shoes off (socks on). The only thing I noticed is the nice feeling of the raised pieces on my feet when depressing the pedals.

What did you like better on the other set. The only thing I noticed was Porsche written a it bigger. Is there a slight different in finish?

Hi SC986,

Two things: The raised pieces appear to be cylindrical and made out of rubber on the set in the link. Mine are plastic and domed shaped. I think the cylindrical set looks better.

Also, mine are attached with just 2 screws per pedal, versus 3 on the set in the link.

Yeah got the top painted and on last Thursday. I like it, it really gives the car a different look. I need to do some adjustments, have alot of windnoise on the drivers side.

I tried for 45 minutes today and could not get the plug for the defroster clipped in..Grrrr.

Yeah, I haven't taken a pic yet. You know the area, no great scenery around. I need to though!
