Hershey Swap Meet

Some of you guys had planned to go to Hershey, but I don't know who, if anyone, made it. I went up there and had a great time. I brought back a few pictures for you. I tried to get a representative sample, but somehow didn't get a 914 (though there were a ton of nice ones). Keep in mind that I'm no DJ with a camera.

There was no high ground to take an overall shot. This is about 1/10 of the field.

I parked my car waaay out by itself so it didn't get dinged. This is how I found it when I returned. Boxsters were everywhere.

Gt2s, GT3s and Turbos were plentiful as well.

Private sellers, dealers and manufacturers were on hand with their wares. I thought this floor/pedal set from Rennline was slick.

There were a great many Sharks, 944s and 968s.

Apparently, the DE worked out better for some than for others.

There was lots of early iron.

I almost forgot Caymans.

...and my absolute favorite, bar none...

I was there on Saturday. I'll try to post some of my pics in the next few days. That yellow Cayman S was pretty badass in person.

That Beck 904 remake was neat, but not really my style.

Was hoping to see some Carrera GTs parked next to each other in the lot, but by 12:30 when I took off, I hadn't seen one.

Sadly, the only thing I picked up was a model black 986. $4, not a bad deal. It was my first time to Hershey and I didn't know what to expect. I was sort of hoping to find a hardtop or an original rucksack.

I ended up spending most of my time in the For Sale lot and the normal parking lot, as many of the vendors weren't offering what I hoped.

Wow, some nice cars there. Next time i'll have to make the 4 hour trip. Is this just an annual meet? Did this replace the one in Carlisle or is this a different one?

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well.
When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

Hey Doc,

I was wondering if you'd made it or not. Did you stay at the Hershey?

The guy who owns that 550 Beck lives right near me somewhere. I can't figure out where exactly, but I see him all over the neighborhood.

The 550 was very cool – the owner must be a very small man, and limber.

Thanks for the tip - we didn’t wind up staying at the Hershey but spent Sunday afternoon checking the place out and walking through the gardens (if I knew there was going to be a beer festival, I would definitely have booked us there Sunday night).

All-in-all it was a very nice weekend. I kept wondering how many people there were people I knew from this forum. We should have 986 forum t-shirts or hats or something like the 914 guys had.
