Porsche Maintenance Records Check

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a way to find out specific things done on a car by Porsche under warranty?

I am looking to buy a newer model Cayman, but the CarFax report has me Leary of buying it and if I could get better explanations of why the work was done I may feel better about it.

Maintence and service records are the legal property of the owner at the time the work was done. As the result, most dealers will not discuss the work without a signed legal release by the owner, which they will not spend any time trying to get as it does not benefit them.

You can try asking the service manager at the dealer, assuming you know what dealer did the service.

I was lucky, when I got my Boxster, I bought a service book from the dealer and asked them to fill it out with all the service they had done, and they did it for me.

I had a pretty good idea of what dealer did the service as my carfax had 3 pages of maintenance in it

This may not be possible in your situation, but when I'm buying a WD car and it was serviced at a Porsche dealership, I ask the current owner to have the Porsche dealer print out the service records. It gets around the privacy issue.

The Porsche dealer has the records; easily printed out.
You just have to get them from it.
You may have to get creative in your approach.
Maybe go a little "Columbo" even.

Just sayin'.......
