Airbag light....won't start

I have searched about this problem but can't find the answer. My airbag light comes on for like 5 seconds and then goes out. After that the car won't start. I take the key out and try again...and again...and again, until all the lights come on and the car starts.

Could this be the ignition switch? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
GW

It sounds like an ignition switch problem (do a search for that and you should find some good information). The airbag light always comes on at first (as do many other lights) so that's not really an indicator of your problem. What is a good indicator is that it does eventually start which says it's more likely to be the switch then your starter.

If you can't find the switch posts - hopefully someone will pitch in and give you the part numbers (etc) needed to fix this.

Good luck.

Thanks denverpete. I have already replaced the ignition switch once. I guess I will just replace it again. It is the cheapest place to start.

Hi,

+1 on the Ignition Switch, it's the most likely place to start. Good Luck!

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
