While planning for a conversion to an electric power steering pump I am looking at possible locations (as well as possible pumps, which can be related).
Ideally I would not want to lose frunk space as I would like to use the car for road trips. The perfect position would be where the washer fluid bottle is, but space is too limited there. Next best would be passenger side next to the battery.
Any idea on a pump that would fit there? The pump from an Opel / Vauxhall would be too large and it seems the Volvo / Mazda pumps are about the same size.
Also behind the front bumper(cover) there is plenty of space. Close to the rack so not a bad place (besides that the bumper cover will need to be removed to fill it up). However, I might need the space later on to fit the third radiator.
Any places I should consider as well?
If all fails I could place it where the CD changer would go (has been removed). I have seen pumps installed there so it will fit. To make it look ok and to prevent any luggage from hitting it I would try to fit it behind the brake master cylinder cover of a RHD car. So instead of the brake fluid reservoir sticking out it would be the power steering reservoir....
Thanks for thinking along
