Replacing / upgrading cluster while preserving mileage

As the title says:

Is it possible to replace the 986 cluster by a 996 one, while preserving the mileage, since it's an item that is controlled and checked every year at technical checkup around here ...

Cheers,

S

Yes it is.

If I post the link my post will have to be approved by mods.

Instead you can google: Working with the EPROM on Porsche 986
And look for renntech or rennlist, the pdf can be found on both forums.

Thanks Makrilli!

Found it! Not for the faint of heart, but - being an IT guy - right up my alley! ;-)

Cheers,
