Cracks in rear strut tower

Gents,

I have had a sharp crackling sound from left rear wheel lately. It's heard when I accelerate or decelerate. I have changed out the droplink, LCA and trailing arm, no luck.
When checking the strut tower I notice small cracks near two of the three fastening bolts. The attached picture shows one crack, barely noticeable.

I'll have the cracks welded, but I'm surprised that I cannot find any posts about cracked strut towers. Am I the only one experiencing this? Also are there a proven fix to reinforce?

The car is a 03S, all solid bushings except for oem strut bearing. Also run a diy Pedro bar. The car do see some tracks but I never go on the curbs. To be honest I do believe I over torqued those bolts previously.
