how many horse power in 3.4
and is that easier to swap?

sure that cheaper how much is gonna cost with every things

thanks

No, think about it. You are assuming 2 different things. You think because it says 300 its 300, and you think that when they dyno test a supercherged boxster, its at that number. But a dynoed 3.4 and a supercharged boxster are similar. So think it through and dont compare crank HP to wheel HP.

I was comparing crank hp to crank hp. Lets talk wheel hp to wheel hp to make it more clear. A stock 2.5L makes about 170 hp at the wheels. A bolt on S/C will give the 2.5L engine about a 50 hp gain which would come to around 220 hp at the wheels....which is what a stock early model boxster S puts down to the ground. Even the smaller 3.4L 996 engine puts down around 255 hp to the ground. Bottom line is the 996 engine has more power. If you have some dyno sheets of a s/c 2.5L or if you have a link that says otherwise I'd like to check it out.

The Imagine Autosports website http://www.imagineauto.com/boxster%20sc.htm has this to say about the addition of their SC kit to a base 2.5 boxster engine:

"Real world results were completed on our in-house AWD Mustang Dyno. Base line results were apx 150RWHP increased to 230RWHP. That is a 38% gain by using your weekend to bolt on our supercharger kit."

I don't agree with their statement about a base 2.5 making 150whp. Mine made 169 before I added headers. Naturally, this drops their percentages a lot too.

I sure would like to see some dyno information from one of our 3.4 Boxster forum particpants to know what their true WHP (and torque) numbers are. Then we could do a true apples to apples comparison by dyno results.

Then, it would be good to tally up the total cost for each power upgrade path and find out how many dollars per WHP each costs. That would be very illuminating.

Some guys like me don't need the most HP money can buy. We just want more HP than we have, and we want enough to feel a sizeable difference in the butt dyno.

I'm going off of what PorscheDoc said. Hes dealt with 3.4 conversions and superchargers and told me the supercharged is quicker and cheaper. I don't think ive ever seen a conversion dyno, but itd be easier to find a supercharged boxster and a conversion and race them. Lets put a stock boxster in too and see how much difference either mod makes.

My luck, I would swap in a 3.4 and it would have an RMS problem.

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well.
When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

I remember reading when TPC did their dyno test on a stock 2.5 before adding their supercharger, their result was around that range, but I thought theirs was in the high 130s.

My 2.5L dialed in at 165 RWHP.

I don't trust HP claims... 99% B.S.

Do the 3.4L swap. Just be patient and save up a few more months. :]

My 3.4 put downd 280hp at the wheels, Imagine's 3.2L Supercharged car put down 285 on the same dyno according to the owner of that car.
