Red temp light

Guys, driving and I start smelling and seeing white smoke come passenger side vent. The red light on temp gauge starts flashing but temp remains at 180. I saw some water drips as I on driveway as I pulled in. It’s parked.. waiting to check coolant level. Thoughts? Thank you!

Well you have an issue with the coolant system.
Start with a visual inspection.
Then do a coolant system pressure test with a coolant system pressure tester.
Harbour freight has them for around $90.00 they will test any coolant system including the coolant tank cap.

So my coolant seems to be empty at least from the reservoir in the trunk. Should I try buying porsche coolant and adding it back in to see if its ok?

What was odd was that even though the red light started flashing on the temp gauge, the temp didnt go above 180.

You have a coolant leak. Adding new coolant is like pouring it into a sieve. You have to identify the cause you haven fixed the problem.

As blue said, fill with distilled water and then pressure test the system. Find and fix the leak before you drive it. It may have not overheated this time, but it will... And aluminum blocks don't tolerate that.

So discovered leak coming directly underneath the engine. So it seems it’s the water pump. Going to have the water pump and thermostat replaced.

That would be a good time to inspect/replace the motor mount.
