Best place to buy used engine

I'm purchasing a replacement used engine in the next few weeks. What would the site recommend as a good place to purchase from?

I see a fair amount on Ebay, a couple used vendors, but looking for advice from the group as to what they have done in the past.

Edit* I also have a line on a used engine in a junkyard, but its been sitting since 2015. Worth looking at with 140k on it?

I have, didn't see any current postings for a 2.5l. If one comes up I'll keep money in house first of course, but if there aren't any listed then I've got to go out to go look.

I just picked up a 3.2 locally but think I found a different engine I’d like to pick up. Let me know if you might be interested. I’ll be looking at the other engine later this week. PM me if you want and I’ll give you my cell.

If you plan on keeping your car for a long time you might take a look at ByPros engine.

I would definitely get one with history, and the more local the better. I bought one online through a forum contact which ended up having intermix, which I discovered after installing it. So I got to do two changes, not one. Not a fun day or month.

Have you considered swapping in a non-m96 motor? Audi v8, for example...
