Transmission Drain Plug Size (internet seems to be wrong)
I'm trying to replace my drain and fill plugs with AN fittings to for a trans cooler. I looked up the thread size and I can see multiple sites claiming its M18 1.5 but that is too small and the incorrect threads. The fitting on my transmission are tappered threads. Anyone know the correct size?

I posted too soon, they're M24 X 1.5. Or at least I think they are. they're tapered though which is a problem, I can't seem to find M24 X 1.5 tappered threads to AN. Surely someone has solved this problem..right?

When i had mine out it appeared to be regular 1/2" NPT. I didn't test, so not positive.

There's an aftermarket kit for transmission cooler made by tunermotorsports. Maybe try to contact them to see where they source the fittings?

I actually just went through this this week. Yes, it is an M24x1.5 tapered thread.
I couldn't find any off- the- shelf fittings that would work without adding too much of a "hang-down". ;-) I went to my local Bridgestone hose products store, where their genius in the back built me a fitting. He drilled the plug, and then welded in an NPT fitting. From there, I actually added a Tee, so that I could also plumb a temp Gauge. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |
Try British American Thermal in Fla. they have many fittings.
