2001 S coolant leak questions
My 2001 S pumped out about a quarter cup of coolant last drive. This was on the garage floor after the drive.

In the second picture I see a wet bolt. I'd check the plastic hose connector from the oil/water exchanger to the expansion tank. It is almost directly above that area. They have failed before.

I agree with 911monty. The good news here is that it's not wet EVERYWHERE, which is frequently the case with a leak on the bottom.
Take your flashlight and follow the trail up. I think you're likely to find a slipped hose clamp, or some such. Otherwise: what brand expansion tank did you use when you replaced it? Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk |

Sorry could not help it.. |
I had a coolant tank cap fail after only three years, so it's possible that could be your culprit.
|
FWIW....If you do have to replace the tank, don’t think you will be saving your knuckles or money buying anything other than a Porsche tank. As I see quoted on here and always get a laugh, “Ask me how I know” Hopefully you won’t need to replace the tank.

Thanks for all the input. I am not going to be able to get it up in the air until the weekend. I will check then.

1.Put the top in the service mode 2. Remove storage cubby and top engine cover. 3. Look at top of engine for leak 4. In as little as 10 minutes. Perhaps save expensive engine damage. |

I can totally do the above procedure. For reference, since I noticed the fluid, I have not started the car. |
New overflow tank required. Just got it back from my indy mechanic.

Labor was $700 Tax and other environmental charge and total was $1200 This is the 2nd one I have had put in. First one failed 6 years ago. |
