Power Top

The top on my 99 Boxster will not go up - anyone have this problem or know what to do to get the top up without taking it to the dealer?

Thanks

Unhappy Top stuck?

I had this happen the other day and it kind of freaked me out. I then noticed that the red light was still on, so I must not have lowered it completely the last time. I lifted the top a bit by hand and then tried bringing it up again with the electric switch. That worked in my case, maybe it will in yours too. If not, it may be the relay switch has gone bad. Good luck!

Top problems

I have been told that nearly all of the time, it is the brake-relay switch -- look for the light. If it is not on, lower and re-set the parking brake. If the light does not come on (the parking brake will still be set) -- no top action. You might need to have the switch replaced. There have been numerous postings on a few other boards and chat rooms......

Handbrake light and top

Thanks for the info. Good to know that. So far, no problems with the top other than that one time and I think that was just me in that I failed to completely lower it that time and watch for the dashboard light to go out.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info! I tugged a little on it and cycled the emergency brake a couple of times and it now works. Hopefully it was just a glitch with the switch.

Spoke to Soon!!

The top stopped working again and I could not get it to go up again so I took it in to the shop. The relay had blown and a new one is on order. Anybody else have this happen?
