Replacing ALL struts due to rattling and 99k mileage

I need some advice before starting, Within the Strut assembly, Front & Back... What are other peices can wear or break and cause rattling in my strut assembly???

Reason im asking is that when i do the Strut change, i dont wanna put it all together and still have rattling in the suspension.

I have low Speed rattles over bumps/cracks in the roads.

If anyone has an exploded view of the struts...that would help ALOT!

Thanks guy and gals.

It has been my experience that rattling is either worn bushings, ball joints wearing out or bolts/nuts that have backed off (this doesn't exactly narrow it down, does it...). The bushings simply need removed and replaced (unless it is integral in a suspension member and then you most likely will need a press to insert) and the bolts/nuts need torqued down. If it's the ball joints then you'll need to replace the suspension member.

Not that it can't happen but I've never heard of struts causing "rattling"? Usually they lose their "fluid" and makes for a lousy ride and heavy "thuds" (meaning the struts are bottoming out in full jounce) when hitting potholes.

Regardless of what may or may not be causing the noise, I have always found that a rubber mallet and a little patience will always show where the noise is coming from. I jack the car up and take the wheels off and start tapping around on the various components. Last time I did this it uncovered a nut on the front stabilizer bar that had loosened.
