I saw this on craigslist yesterday:
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/pts/d/porsche-engine/6759214011.html
No 3.2s at the moment but there are some bigger ones :) ... and they ship.

Thanks Grant, I’ll check it out. :)

Unless you find a motor within east Canada, you're going to spend a bunch on shipping. I have lots of Canadian customers get their stuff delivered right across the boarder. I'm not sure how your taxes work, but I'd think about taking the intake manifolds off before you cross. I'd imagine a "Subaru" engine would be cheaper than a Porsche engine. I have a Mexican customer that has me write up fake invoices for when he crosses.

Thanks for your input Woody. Removing the intake manifolds changes what? I’ll have to contact the Canadian border services to see what the current situation is with auto parts. Your current president has thrown a wrench in the works and it is no longer clear what is dutied, taxed, surtaxed, etc. Before, auto parts manufactured in the US were duty free whereas German parts were taxed at 6.1%. :(
BTW do you have an 03 or later 3.2 motor?
Cheers James

I'd suggest contacting Alex Baldwin or Whoopi Goldberg. I'm sure that in fleeing our country for yours, they likely found some creative ways to import / export between the two.

The intake runners have Porsche stamped on them. Take them off and I doubt anyone will know what motor it is. Say it's a subaru motor. Easy enough to make a fake receipt to go along with it.

Sorry I don't. That's probably the hardest M96/M97 motor to come across. I've only ever had one out of the 70 boxsters I've bought. The guy who bought that one also has dibs on the next one. 3.6's are easier to come by and probably cost the same as a 3.2 3 chain.

I know this wouldn't help Newart, but earlier this week I watch a 2001 Boxster S with front accident damage sell for 1700$ Canadian on an online auction. Almost broke my heart. Unfortunately those auctions are not generally open to the public.

Actually the above was a 2002. I just did some more searching and found this in Calgary (I assume from the floods last year(?)):

This car does not need a dealer licence for bidding. Might be an interesting challenge if you don't mind finding a fish in the intake manifold. :D

Also I imagine you are watching eBay... there are several 3.2s available at the moment and a ton of 2.7s and 2.5s... last time I looked there was almost nothing.

I’m looking for a 2003 or later. These are the 3 chain engines that use the 7.8 motronics. Porsche used the DME 7.8 in the 2002 996 but only started in 2003 for the Boxster.
Thanks for keeping an eye out for me Grant!

Perhaps buy a salvage title car and part it out after removing the engine. If I had an extra garage bay I would seriously consider one like this:
https://www.iaai.com/Vehicle?itemID=30524554&rowNumber=0&loadRecent=Tru e
$3000 US buy it now... plus associated expenses and a road trip to pick it up.

If he wants an engine with 130k miles on it... like in that salvage title car... mine will be for sale in a few months :p

Not the right year and it has a water pump with a metal impeller.

So it must be a 2001 or 2002. How do you tell from the photos?
