Spoiler Indicator

When the spoiler is raised, either automatically or manually, is the spoiler dash light supposed to illuminate until the spoiler is lowered?

I flipped through the manual but I didn't see anything about this and I just wanted to make sure the light wasn't broken.

If the spoiler is raised automatically - the spoiler light will not come on. If at speeds above 75 mph the spoiler does not raise, or does not raise completely, the light will come on.

If you raise the spoiler manually, the light will come on and stay on while the spoiler is up. It will have to be lowered manually at which point the light goes off.

The spoiler light will also light up when you start the engine, and stay illuminated until the car "moves off".
If it doesn't light up when you start the engine, then you apparently have a light problem.
Otherwise, as Pete described, no light = good, light = bad.

Does that spoiler really do anything besides make me hit that gas at 74 to get to 75 just to raise the spoiler?

I've raised the spoiler manually both while parked and at speed (~50-65mph) and have never seen the indicator come on. I'm pretty sure the light comes on during the ignition key-on check, though.

If I didn't mention before, it's an '03 S

weird

Hi,

Get yourself a lonely, deserted, stretch of road. Then remove the Spoiler fuse. Next, take the car to 75MPH (life Insurance policy in your upper left pocket, just to be safe). Now, you tell me, does that spoiler really do anything?

Just Kidding, even a khaki-colored windbeater like you would have some unpleasantness if you drove w/o the spoiler over 75MPH. These things won't auto-rotate to safety...

Wow, khaki colored windbeater? I will have you know that I have stepped up to a vintage 1960 Canadian 4 engine turboprop that is slower than a Carrera GT! Nothing but the best for the Army.

Hi,

RC-7 or RC-7B? Isn't that the old canadian Dash 7? You must have about 7 hrs. endurance in that thing?

That'll help the Log Book and give you a skillset for Civilian Life - "Ladies and Gentlemen, please stow your tables and place your seats in their upright position for Take-Off. Thank you for flying RailAir..."

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99

You are correct MNBox...however, it is now called a E0-5C. Hangtime approaches 9 hours. 1.5 more years and I hope to be calling an airline/cargo company home. I am tired of working for a living.
