99 Boxster Question on interior door light behavior

Opening the door on my car will turn on the interior light only when the car is running.

In fact, the interior light will only work in any capacity when the car is running.

I do not believe this is the correct behavior. I read that the car will operate like this in dealership mode but the Porsche dealership says that my car does not have "modes".

Anyone have any ideas or can explain to me what could be happening?

I have a 98 Boxster I picked up a few weeks ago that has the same behavior. My Indie is trying to fix the issue,,I'll post up his results.

The interior lights on my '98 come on when I open the door, whether or not the engine is running, or the key is in the ignition.

I bet you had your immobilizer replaced and the car was not set up properly (it thinks its in delivery mode)

Does the horn honk twice when you lock it?

Actually the remote does not function. The only way to lock the car is my inserting the key and locking it manually. I am just now trying to get to the bottom of this issue. The car had an aftermarket alarm installed and I think this issue has something to do with that.

I believe the alarm control unit is under the drivers seat??? The unit is there and I traced the wiring an it seems to be hooked up.
