986 Tiptronic key problems

Hi, the ignition key on my '99 986 Tiptronic will not come out of the barrel unless I wiggle the Gear Change lever any ideas?

Always make sure when you put it in park, you do it with a quick kind of hard push to make sure the car knows it's in park. My car would think the tans wasn't in park and wouldn't let me start it. It only did this for a little while and now I never have this issue. I didn't do anything, so I'm not sure why it did this for a short period.

I had one that did that maybe 5% of the time too. Seemed a bit of steering wheel wiggle and trans lever wiggle would free it every time. I did nothing.

Your ignition switch is starting to fail.If you notice the gear indicator on the dash wont show it in park when it is the switch is failing.

ignition switch failing. that's what happened with me.

i had to learn where the spot was that allowed me to take it out. became muscle memory for a while and i ignored it

long story short i wanted to take a trip and figured i'd be okay to continue ignoring it...

i had to replace the switch in colorado in a parking lot after almost getting stuck in omaha when it didn't want to crank or release the key
