JACK STand height for clutch job

How high do you guys think I need to go if I were going to do a Clutch job? I read somewhere that someone went up 24 inches! If I were to go anything above 20 inches, it should still be safe right?

I would go as high as you possibly can...safely. They are big, but if you can get some of the 6 ton stands, they will give you a lot of height safely. I would rather use those at a lower setting, than a 2 ton stand at a higher setting.

I've had the Boxster and 928 up 24" on the 6 ton stands. Very stable. I did the motor mounts, sway bars and oil pan at that height on the 928. The Boxster was at that height for the the coolant reservoir replacement. No problems for me with air wrenches and torque downs.
