Smelling Gas

I switched to Ethanol free gas a week ago and now smell gas in my garage when I park my Boxster in it. There is no gas leak, did not overfill, passed inspection in Colorado in May 2016; they checked the gas cap at inspection station for leaks as part of annual inspection, no codes, does not smell in cabin of Boxster.

What are your thoughts to this dilemma?

There is probably a crack on the top of the gas sending unit. I had the same problem and smelled gas after fill up and parking. Common problem on the Boxster.

Long shot; take a look at the o-ring on the cap. They can crack as they age.

Ok, I'll check that out; it only happened when I filled up with Ethanol free not Ethanol gas; where is the fuel sending unit located?

Thanks,

Ciao, what finally solved your gas smell problem? I had exactly what you describe, and it turned out to be a clogged fuel filter.

The computer was reset. Gas smell is gone. Scanning showed too much fuel was being sent to TB resting the Computer fixed the problems
