top end rebuild on 996 3.4

Back in May I suffered the dreaded intermix in my 99 Carrera 4. It turned out to be a cracked 1-3 head. The crack was around the center plug housing. I sent the heads to Hoffman Automotive and they repaired the crack, replaced the valve springs, reground the valves, and did a stage 1 porting. The heads look great! I've also had the lifters rebuilt and the fuel injectors refurbished. Fortunately, the injectors turned out to be the 4-pintle type, which I thought were not used until after 2005.
I'll use this thread to update progress on getting things back together and the final results. It may take until spring 2017, as there are a number of other things to take care of with both engine and car.
For now, some engine porn:

Oh so nice!

Good to see that you're getting it back together!

Nice pictures!

JFro, did you disassemble the engine as well?

Or removed the heads and left the engine on the car?

The engine is out of the car, but I'm not disassembling the bottom end. No measurements, but the cylinders look great - no scoring or wear at all.
May not be healthy, but I really love this car... Almost as much as I love my 986!!
There's a little demon on my shoulder telling me I should put this engine in the 986.
