Brake lights coming on a little late

If I start to press the brake lightly, I can feel the brakes starting to work and the car slowing, but the lights don't illuminate. If I push with medium force, they show.

Only noticed this recently. Is this a faulty brake light switch or is it normal to be a little late for the illumination?

Cheers!

It could be just that the pedal isn't engaging the switch right away, or bad contacts as 911monty suggested.

I've never checked the 986, but have noticed the same thing on other cars...not that unusual.
