transmission o-ring

so this happened. after I got the transmission in today I went to install the new axle. when I installed and torqued the axle nut I noticed a sudden leak from the transmission. after a little investigation I discovered that the "new" axle was bad. the inner cv joint was not seated (ball bearing into the groves.) this made the shaft about an inch too short, so when I torqued the axle nut it pulled the output flange out to the point that the o-ring wasn't seated. once I loosened the axle nut and pushed the flange back in, the leak stopped. I hope it did not do any permanent damage to the tranny. in any case, I get to wait for another week for the new axle to come in.
