Anyone running 245/45/17 Victoracers..

for auto-x on all 4 wheels? I've got a set of 986 boxster style wheels that iI've been using for auto-x with 225/45's on the front 7" rims but hear that 245/45 will fit the 7" rim. Would appreciate comments pro and con from anyone that has run this setup.

Absolutly not...There is no way a 245/45 will fit properly on a 7" wheel and even if it did the side wall would be soo tall that it would rub up on the liner.. The 7" wheel pretty much maxs out a 225mm

TriGem: I hear what you're saying but,

I've seen more than a few posters on the Boxster racing board saying that it can be done and that it does help limit your understeer. One of the TireRack guys I ususally talk to also said that it will work but your installer may not be happy with you.

I'm interested to find out from someone that's done it if there is that much to be gained from that size vs. a 225/45/17 in front.

BTW, the OD on the 245/45/17 is roughly 25.3", just about the same as the PS2's mounted on the 18" that came with the car. The rears are about an inch taller, unlike the 986 cars where the OD on F&R tires were almost the same.

Sorry didn't notice you had the 987 so im not sure about the rubbing factor. However, according to michelin's web site the 245/45/17 PS2 has a minimum wheel width of 7.5 and a max of 9.0 so it might actually work but i would think the tire would get sloppy on that size wheel. I am now courious to see who has used that setup and what its like....
