Wheel securing bolt socket

Hi, I have a 99' Base and I am missing the socket to remove the anti theft bolt. Is this a generic Boxster socket or is it unique to the individual car?

Gary; The socket is not generic, they are designed individually. Check your tool pouch in the spare tire, hopefully it's there. If you have a Dealer nearby they may be able to help. Otherwise search theft prevention lug nuts, there is a tool you can buy to remove, but will destroy the bolt. Most people just remove the security bolt and install regular bolts. Good Luck.

if it is factory, there are many different ones.
A dealer should be able to remove it

Did you check the tool roll or the pocket in the spare tire cover

You can also do a search and there are some methods to removing them
Once removed throw them away and replace with regular lug bolts

My dealer allowed me to use his kit in the parking lot to find the correct removal socket, remove the 4 locks, and to buy replacement "normal" bolts from him. Unless you have expensive wheels or live and drive in theft prone areas ....

I'm pretty sure if you have really expensive wheels, they'll hammer a socket on the bolt and remove it anyway. Speaking of which, my mom's 2012 Hyundai Genesis has those lug nuts that are completely circular on the outside, the key part is on the inside, which makes the hammer a socket on method useless, I guess. Pretty interesting!

Just bought the car. A 99 with 57,000 kilometres. Good deal but has a few deficiencies like no tool kit.
My local guy down the road has the kit to take anything off so I will just order 4 replacement bolts without the security. I live out in the country so theft isn't that big a deal. I have dogs.

You can actually buy the removal adapter from the dealership. In the states, it'll run you about $40.

I'm having a hard time removing the wheel lug bolts using the factory socket wrench. They're too tight and wont come off even if I step on it. Any suggestions? Thanks
