Alignment newbie -- help requested
Hi all!
I bought my first Porsche a few years ago (a 2002 986). Having a blast with it! I've been AX'ing it about 4-5 times per year, and tracking it about once per year (I'd like to do more but that's all that my schedule allows). The maintenance records indicated no recent alignment, so I took it in to get it aligned about a year ago. The service included free re-alignment for 12 months, I'm taking it in again before they year expires. I'm taking it to just a regular shop (Wheelworks). Question: given the type of driving I do, should I request that they make any adjustments to the factory alignment? I'd love to get a bit more performance at AX and the track as long it didn't create significant additional wear on my new tires (Bridgestone Potenza RE-11s). I've attached a picture showing the before/after specs from my prior alignment. Thanks so much! Charley http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1436290546.jpg |
They actually did a really nice job with your alignment. The only comment I would add is that if tracking the car is your primary goal then more negative camber on the front like it had before your alignment would be appropriate for turn in and cornering grip. But be aware that this will wear out your tires quickly. But then so does tracking the car I guess.

I also suggest asking them to maximize front negative camber for slightly better track/ax performance. Something like -.8 is probably all they will be able to get without modifications. IMHO this shouldn't cause a major difference in tire wear.
