If i cant get the right oil from porsche, is there another brand of oil that is close to the posche oil.

When i had mine changed on my 06 Boxster S at a private porsche shop round the corner from the dealer,they were goin a put Motul in and i caught it,stated i want the porsche stuff ONLY so they drove over to the dealer and got 3.5 litres in a jug and brought it back and installed it,they did state that porsche charges almost $50 a litre for the stuff but its really only available in a 20 Litre container,so if there nice they will sell u what u only need.My shop has a good rep with them and i got the fluid changed including fluid for $150,pretty happy with that.Im sure my shop dident pay$50 a litre though!

Because of the rather unique nature of the five speed oil, that is a difficult question to answer. I can say that we have seen people try a lot of other products, only to return to the Porsche fluid.

Observation
Just an observation, but if you think the trans/gear oil discussion on this forum gets interesting, you should look at some of the hostile comments on the Ferrari forums.
I guess as the rides get more costly, the discussions get hotter.

So the question is what is the Porsche PN for "The Burmah product for the five speed (N 052 911 C0)"? When I called Sunset Porsche yesterday they were ordering the 999.917.546.00...Then I saw this post and I called back today and spoke to Jessie. I am glad I did 
He researched and said that there is a new PN that supercedes N 052 911 C0 and that is 000 043 304 71. This is available in 20 liter containers (exactly how JFP described) however he said they can pour it into 1 liter containers and ship it to me. I ordered 3 liters. Price $26.98 per liter!
Hope that helps other people with 5 spd Tx...

You were right. Sunset has it. Expensive shipping but at least its the right stuff.

I live in MN and have not been happy with the way the OEM fluid works in cold temps. Both cars have been S 6 speeds with about 120 miles. I put in the oem stuff. I am thinking about Redline 75W90 NS GL5. Anyone try it?

Sorry to bump an old thread... does anyone know offhand if this is the same for a five-speed 987.1 (an '07 Boxster base)? I'm having a lot of trouble finding this stuff!

I think the correct part no. is 000-043-305-00. This shows on some sites as superseding some 986 part nos., so I think it might be the correct fluid for 986s as well.

Gear lube for 97 5-spd manual
As old posts below, the factory spec fluid is Burmah N 052 911 C0/ 000 043 304 71 but no luck finding it on the web…. Anyone knows who still sell them by litter, not by drum can?
Or any alternative fluids with good results? I read many old posts that non-factory fluids did not work well and caused notchy feel esp. when cold, so I’d like to stick with the factory fluid only if I can find it….
