P0430 CEL code question / Secondary CAT?
I have a laundry list of things that I need to do to the Boxster now that it is Spring. One of the things high on the list is tracking down CEL code P0430 (Catalytic Converter Conversion Too Low- Cylinders 4-6).
I have done a lot of reading on the issue, and plan on doing the usual things first. I will do a Durametric reading, swap the O2 sensors from side to side (cleaning the connections and holes), do a smoke test, and maybe a clean the MAF.
My question is, if it turns out to be the CAT, does the P0430 code indicate the secondary CAT? If so, rather than replace the CAT with a used one, wouldn't i be better off in the long run with just doing a Secondary CAT delete? I was thinking, based on the info here that I would go with the Cerket Werks setup.
I need opinions please.

P0430 is the three way cat on the 4-6 bank.

Thanks JFP! After a quick call to the Porsche Dealer, and giving him my VIN, it seems that mt 99' does not have the secondary CATs ( I have not been able to get under it yet) So, the CAT delete is a non-issue. Would the 4-6 bank be drivers side, or passenger side?

I also had a P0420, the Bank 1 cat code and it turned out to be the MAF.
(Accompanied by P01026, P01033)
I sprayed the MAF and the plug/harness contacts with MAF cleaner, then cleared the codes and the code has not come back in a week of daily driving.
I also pulled the air filter and found bits of paper in the filtered side of the airbox, that looked like a part sticker had come apart and somehow ended up on the filtered side down by the water drain hole.
Probably a contributing factor to fouling the MAF.
