Durametric Actual Values Shows Misfire Cylinder 3 - 986 Forum - The Community for Porsche Boxster & Cayman Owners

I was just running down the Durametric Actual Values list checking to see what info it would show me. I got to the Cylinder Misfire section and it is showing Cylinder 3 as having misfires.

I did the norm from what I read on a search here. Changed the coil, still shows misfires, changed the spark plug, still shows misfires.

Apparently it's not bad enough to throw a CEL on it, but I want to fix this. No other Cylinders showed a misfire. Could it be the fuel injector?

Ok, took the car for a long drive and during the drive there were 0 misfires, pulled into the driveway and at idle got misfires again.

a leaking injector perhaps..?

I would try a good fuel injection cleaner. If that doesn't work run a compression check on that cylinder.

Took a drive, probably 20 to 25 min long. Had my daughter with me to watch for misfires on cylinder 3 and there were 0 misfires during the drive.

Once back in the driveway at idle Durametric showed misfires happening again on cylinder 3.

it may be that your high idle adaptation and cyl 3 misfire are related.

1. confirm your vacuum leak from the other thread. a vacuum leak has more overall effect at idle, and both your issues are idle-related.
2. disconnect maf and see if problem persists. a dirty maf can cause gremlins like this (and you are running an oiled filter ...).
3. clean injectors. improper fueling due to improperly performing injector may be the culprit.

I did the vacuum leak test, see other thread. I blew out the filter with a leaf blower to remove excess oil on the filter. I also cleaned the maf sensor yesterday and put that complete fuel system cleaner in the car along with Quick Trip Premium fuel.

The car runs like a monster, pulls ever gear really good.
