I believe TRK meant "the 987 air box is a very big improvement over the 986 unit".

If you want to get very specific on your tune, this is it. No need to send your ECU anywhere.

FVD Brombacher Online Shop - FVD98661830MG - Software Upgrade Boxster 986 S 3.2L (Genius Flash Tool) - ENGINE → Tuning → Chip / Motronic / DME

Do you not have the facility for custom ecu tuning using a dyno? That's how I had mine done. I spent about half a day and had about 4 or 5 iterations loaded up and each one run on the dyno.

What did that cost you?

Here are pics of my 987 air box mod.

Very nice numbers. What are you referring to on the "Ebay silencer and manifolds"? Did you not put the 987 air box in it?

Yes, as above. They are the same pieces you see all over ebay. Where you are I think this is the same as Topspeed, but dozens of others resell the same stuff.

All mods as per my signature and the other post. I no longer have that car but now have the 550 which has the 987 airbox. I've lost interest in putting the 996 TB onto this car but have done 100 cell cats, headers, 4" under drive pulley, K&N filter, Carnewal modified exhaust/muffler, adjustable rear toe links, front top mount slots widened, fresh arms/bushes.

Too bad you didn't do the 987 air box. Probably would have lit up the HP another 10 HP.

I was happy with what it was for the relatively little money spent and moved on to other mods and suspension/geo playing instead.

Those dyno runs aren't free either
