Safe afr's and timing ?
My car is a 3.4. I am running 12.8-13.0 afr and 22degrees of timing above 6krpm. What is safe and what is normal and what is the best performance. Thanks in advance.

How are you adjusting ignition timing?
I guess you just advance the timing until it starts to knock, and then back off a few degress... just like the good ol days

I can not adjust the tables. I can manipulate the maf. I am interested in the numbers that are safe and good for best performance.

I have spoken to him many times. I have had my 3.4 for almost 5 years now. It is tuned to a safe number on the afr's I just wanted to know what are it's limits. Like can I push it to 13.5:1 or will the thing melt and also with what kind of timing should I be looking to be around.

13:1 is magical for these engines, BUT according to where you are sampling, the values might not be correct. Few people realize the catalytic converter role and how it effects pre and post cat AFR.
Do you have a lightweight flywheel? Do you have solid/ semi- solid motor/ trans mounts?

some widebands (plx I believe) have a narrowband output so that you can replace one of your pre-cat narrowbands with the wideband and still send the proper signal to your ecu - that is, no additional bungs to weld on.

Pre cat and 987 mount and stock tranny mounts. No worries on the knock there hopefully with this setup. Jake thank you for answering my question. Stock flywheel. Remember I sent you my aasco.
