Borla exhaust AND 2nd Cat. Bypass Pipes?

I've read many exhaust posts which mention that both the Borla and Chinese made exhausts have a noticeable drone in the 2K-3K RPM range. I've also read that by adding the secondary cat. bypass pipes to the Chinese made exhausts, the drone is significantly reduced or eliminated.

If anyone has added the secondary cat. bypass pipes to a Borla exhaust, did they reduce or eliminate the drone?

I've got the Borla, headers, and used to have Fabspeed bypass pipes. It was hard to tell if there was any drone...it was that loud! At WOT, It was over 98dB @ 50 ft, the SCCA autocross noise limit. I have since added 100 cell cats to the bypass pipes, and am now SCCA legal. Drone? Hard to say because it is still very loud.

Thanks, j.fro. I definitely want to improve the exhaust note and sound but not at the expense of not being able to conduct a conversation with my passenger. I will probably go with the bypass pipes and Chinese exhaust. It seems as they will be quieter then with the Borla.

I got the TopSpeed Muffler and cat delete test pipes, came out awesome, sounds like Porsche sports car should sound like, and you can still have conversation with your passenger. Great exhaust note without out sounding like a car owned by a high school kid in the auto shop.

And no, I am not dissing Borla exhaust owners, so don't pucker up and hate on me, I'm just letting the op know that he will like the TopSpeed and be very satisfied.

I have the topspeed bypass with an obx muffler setup. with the muffler alone the sound was horrible. with th addition of the bypass pipes the sound got deeper and and a bit louder, but the drone was at an acceptable level. conversations were not a problem while driving on the interstate.

Do you guys doing anything special with the o2 sensors?

I've got some bypass pipes on the way (might already be at the shop)

Have an HPDE this weekend -- so I don't have too much fiddling time.

If they just bolt up I'm golden and might give it a go.

The drone at 2-3K was BAD! with just the Borla muffler.

I do have smog to deal with -- but I could always swap back if I need to pass and can't as is

I have no drone at all, at any rpm or speed. You may have a slight leak in some of your connections. Buy new clamps, can't remember the name of them like Easy Clamp or something like that. Buy 2 inch size, I had to order from Napa , took about half a day to arrive, 4 realz.

Sensors only around the primary cats, nothing around the secondaries, so you can delete the secondaries and throw no codes or have any problemos
