Question Chinese part

Seeking opinions. I bought a brand new starter off Amazon and when I opened the shipping box the carton says Made in China. I'm leery but wondered if anyone else has had experience with parts especially electrical made there?

Can you tell us anything more about the brand or manufacturer?

In my experience, parts from China can be very high quality or junk or somewhere in between. It all depends on who sourced the part and what quality criteria they placed on the Chinese manufacturer.

For example, everyone considers an Apple iPhone to be a pretty high quality product and its made in China. Why is it good? Because Apple sets a high standard for the Chinese manufacturer and is willing to pay (and inspect) for that high level of quality.

Too many companies outsource to China and all they want is the absolute lowest cost and aren't willing to pay for in-process quality testing or process validation (or any other standard quality processes) and then they complain that China produces crap products.

So, the bottom line is that its impossible to know the quality of your Chinese starter without knowing more about the brand or who built it.

The only known Pcar aftermarket parts manufacturer in the whole of Asia is from Japan. None based in China unless highly clandestine.

I'd bet the box is made in china mate. The seller may simply have repackaged your item.

Well I hope for you anyway....

I don't know why you guys can't read my mind. Sorry about that. I guess a picture does help. The construction lof the starter looks solid enough and it came with testing info and no misspelled words.

starter

I'm in the starter and Alternator business and have been using these starters from this company for years. It's very hard to find anything on the open market that is not made in China. Very low return rate from WPS products.

Thanks Ponyhere! I feel a little more confident in the unit. Now if I can do it in the two hours everyone says it is, I'll really feel good about it. Plan to clean the throttle body while messing around in there.
