Unsure about this hose on tiptronic

I'm not sure exactly what this is and is this fitting only pressure fitted into the hole? Seems odd.

its a vent.

mine is mounted a little different.

if you pull the cap off (don't do it though) there is a little weight in there.

Mine's a 2001 S
The fitting just friction fits in the hole. I dropped by my indy today.

yep just a interference fit...

Mine is a older model and the vent tip is just a mere inch away from the plug in.

A bit surprising, considering the accumulation of gunk around the hole which suggests that it has been blowing ATF out for a while.

Hi NewArt,
How is the project going? Will the Box be ready for the summer?
I don't know if it helps but here is a pic of my manual 6 spd transmission and the vent cap which as you can see is on the passenger side of the transmission. This is what the transmission looked like when it came out of the car.

I'm hooking up the last hoses and clips now. A few other items to address but I'm hoping to turn the key by the end of the week!

Wow, that will be good timing.
The weather here has been so crappy I'm hoping I'll get mine out for next week.
