99 986 starting problem

My 1999 Boxster wouldn't start at all, but when I put the key it it, it turned and the radio worked, power windows, seats, top, locks, heater, the norm.. But I unhooked the CPU in the back, and hooked it back up and now the key won't turn. I'm taking it next week to fix the starting problem, but now I added to that. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

Before you panic, check to see if it is simply the steering wheel locking the ignition.

Garage
might be the clutch switch ...pump the clutch a few times and see if that works...or the ignition electrical switch

I would try the clutch switch and ignition switch first. Only 45$ in parts.

OK The steering wheel was very locked. I didn't want to brake the steering wheel, so I wiggled till it broke loose.
Thanks for the input guys!
