Another top issue

Hello,

I have yet another problem with my convertible top.

When I press and hold the open button, roof starts to open but suddenly starts going back and forth (jerking). Then no matter if I press close or open it randomly opens or closes(sometimes opens when pressing close, sometimes closes when pressing open) or is jerking. When I help the roof by hand, it goes a bit further down or up.

I suspect it's the relay or maybe the switch?

any ideas?

Hello,

So I managed to trace the problem to faulty hand brake signal. (handbrake light is not flashing when brake engaged) I don't know why even with no light the roof kind of works

I checked handbrake micro-switch, used a piece o wire to test if the light will flash but got nothing! I don't know where to look further. The handbrake light works during initial dash lights check when ignition in ON position.

Anyone has any idea what to check ?

Check with a multimeter to see if you have voltage (12 v) at the handbrake micro switch terminal #1.
If you have, operate the switch and see if you have voltage at handbrake micro switch terminal #2. This simple test proves that you have power and the switch is operating OK.

When I disconnect the plug on the micro-switch there is no voltage on any of the connections. Where are those 2 cables connected on the other end? I don't want to strip whole car and trace the cables
