Jacking car up.
Hi All
Haven't jacked the car up yet so looking for advice. For my other vehicles I have 3" hard rubber hockey pucks with a slot cut in which I then use to jack up at the sill. This stops the lip at the sill folding as it is in the slot. I then put axle stands in and lower onto the stands whilst keeping some weight on the 2 trolley jacks. This spreads the load a bit and gives extra protection against collapse.
I realise that the boxster has axle stand points front and rear. I have new (6t per axle) non folding type axle stands as recommended in the 101 projects book.
The jacking points shown in the 101 projects book are not too clear so is it feasible to jack the car up on the sills to leave the jacking points free for putting the axle stands in?

Don't jack at the sills. There are AC lines, radiator hoses, wires hoses etc that you can crush and cause major problems. Look at the jack points in the 101 book again, you'll figure it out.

Cheers. Anyone got any better photos of jacking points that leave the axle stand points free?

I'd suggest you do a search. There have been a few threads describing different people's preferred methods of lifting the car. Mine's in there somewhere but you'll have to find it cuz I'm too lazy to re-type it.

Try Jackpoint Jackstands, they are great and they allow you to jack the car at the four jack points.

You can also use liftbars. Only way to go short of a lift. Liftbars, gets the car up in minutes, rock steady and safe. I have used them for years on my 928s. The boxster uses the later version.

I agree, one of the best tool purchases for the Boxster. In fact my Boxster is on lift bars right now waiting for a replacement AOS to arrive. I use the lift bars quite often, I can put the Jägermobile at a good working elevation for many tasks, including polishing and waxing.
