S-04 pole position tires
Any feedback on these. I was thinking of putting them on my new 18s

Had S03's on my 2001 Audi TT 225. They were bald at 20K miles, but were absolutely a great tire for my needs. Based on this experience I considered the S04's for the Boxster but my indi in Spain couldn't get them in OEM 18" sizes. Went with N-rated Michelin PS2s in then end and they rock.

I have those on my 01 Boxster S, 285/30-18 rear and 255/35-18 front, love them.
They are not quite as sticky as a StarSpec or RS-3 but still good for decent lap times.
What's amazing about the S-04 -s the wet grip, even when it's pretty cold, they work well done to 40F. Other comparable tires usually get scary in the rain once its below 55F or so (I live in the Seattle area, cold wet grip is VERY important here..

I'm a big fan of these tires and have them on my boxster now. In south florida they are great.
The dry grip is excellent. I cannot get any wheel spin no matter how I crank the wheel and give full throttle input. They give away grip very progressively. They are pretty quiet at their limits (if you can find their limits). The sidewalls are very stiff as you can note they both come in the XL fitment.
I havent had any problems in rain.
They will tramline moderately.
I would use caution using them in any freezing weather.
They are a better rain tire and better dry tire than something more budget like an RS3, StarSpec, or V212. This is probably my second favorite tire to the Pilot Super Sport when it comes to my daily drivers.

Thanks for the review everyone. Now I just need the two feet of snow to melt and to order them.
